A New Method ENGLISH FOR ALL is a straight _ forward method to make students talk. it is not an artificial or unnatural language, but develops naturally round well-chosen and familiar topic s enabling the learners to attain a mastery of the common and the ordinary grammatical constructions that occur in our everyday conversations. This Book can be covered in one, or two years depending on the aptitude as well as on the number of lessons given per week. The teacher can supplement the work with outside reading material a1\>1ailable in every bookshop. Each lesson in the book is divided into short passages for reading, followed by question drills for oral practice. At the end of each lesson the grammar part, the vocabulary, derivative words, words of similar and opposite meaning, expressions and idioms, and verb forms are extensively explained. The exercises for homework are mostly given in the form of: a) Questions covering the whole lesson, b) Varied exercises on the vocabulary, c) Varied exercises on the grammar, In the hands of' the experienced teacher this method, will no doubt, prove very progressive. It will help the teacher and the student in the systematic work outlined for them. There will be a certain amount of drudgery in the early stages, I admit; but this cannot be helped. There is drudgery in the learning of any other language. I am convinced, however, that the ·willingness of our teachers to teach, and the cherished desire and enthusiasm of our pupils to learn, Will greatly surmount this drudgery.
